Biography
Tom Popyk is the South Asia Correspondent for Global TV (Canada).
As a freelance reporter, Tom has experience reporting from the front-lines and back rooms of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Over the course of 14 months in Iraq, he covered the Falluja and Najaf campaigns, Abu Ghraib, major bombings, the Anbar insurgency, and on going political developments.
He was the lone Canadian broadcaster to cover the capture of Saddam Hussein. For ABC News, he delivered a world exclusive video and reportage on the Nov. 2003 resumption of U.S. bombings in Iraq.
Over the past decade he has reported for CBS National Radio, CBC Radio and Television, CTV National News, Global Television, Corus Radio, ABC Radio, BBC Wales, Canadian Press, and People Magazine.
He has produced for the Gemini award-winning 35th season of CTV's investigative newsmagazine, W-Five.
